: Mindfulness Book Discussion

Course Description:

Contemplative Practices in Higher Education: Powerful Methods to Transform Teaching and Learning

Mindfulness helps us give our full attention to the present moment, in an evermore distracted culture. This book club series, co-facilitated by Nicole Brandt (Psychology) and Cathy Ritterbusch (Paralegal Studies) will explore the growing movement to use contemplative pedagogy in higher education. Mindfulness practices have been shown to improve attention and academic performance, and help students to manage academic stress. In addition to working with the ideas presented in the text, Contemplative Practices in Higher Education: Powerful Methods to Transform Teaching and Learning, Daniel P. Barbezat and Mirabai Bush (2014), we will share our own experiences integrating mindfulness into the classroom, across all disciplines.

This book club meets Fridays, 9/13, 10/11, 11/15, 12pm to 1pm, in CT, 108.
